Very interesting real photo picture postcard of the German airship GRAF ZEPPELIN landing, apparently carried on two flights, franked with special Germany 1 mark airmail stamp commemorating the flight to the Century of Progress Exposition World's Fair at Chicago, Illinois, tied with black Luftschiff/ GRAF ZEPPELIN, 1 Oct 1933, cancellation of the on board post office, red triangular cachet for the World's Fair flight, green Friedrichshafen, Germany, 2 Nov 1933, Luftschiff GRAF ZEPPELIN Befordet transit postmark, addressed to Cap Ferrat, France with Cap Ferrat, 4 Nov 1933, receiver. Message (in English), remarks that they were approaching Brazil. This is a most unusual piece, which appears to have been postmarked during the 8th GRAF ZEPPELIN flight, because she was en route to Rio de Janeiro on 1 Nov 1933, returned to Germany via Recife, where the red triangular cachet was added, carried back across the Atlantic in the zeppelin post office, causing a delay, and returned to Europe, where it arrived at Friedrichshafen on 2 Nov 1933. Just good condition, two parallel vertical central folds, one through stamp. *** We have been in the postal history business since 1953 and are members of the American Air Mail Society, American Stamp Dealers Association, American Philatelic Society, National Stamp Dealers Association, Philatelic Traders Society (Great Britain), Canadian Stamp Dealers Association (Canada), International Federation of Stamp Dealers Associations, Collectors Club of New York and numerous other philatelic organizations.
