12" Alfa Romeo 12C-36 Bronze Race Car Vanderbilt-Cup


Description:
Exceedingly rare vintage bronze sculpture modeled in the shape of the Alfa Romeo 12C-36 Grand-Prix Race Car with driver. No doubt, a gorgeous museum quality piece!!!

 

Very well detailed master piece made of heavy silver-plated bronze. Unmarked or signed but very probably made in Italy, circa 1936 to celebrate the Tazio Nuvolari's legendary victory in the  first 300-mile George Vanderbilt Cup race (*), driving this extraordinary 12-cyllinder Alfa Romero car entered by Scuderia Ferrari.

 

(*) 300-mile (480 Km) George Vanderbilt Cup race was held on October 12, 1936 at the new facilities at Roosevelt Raceway in Westbury, New York, USA.


Dimensions:
12" (30 cm) long, weight: 6.7 lb (3.05 Kg).


Condition:

Minor loss of plating and few minor markings and scratching here and there. Otherwise, very fine to excellent overall condition with a very nice natural patina.
