Here we have a reprint of an original John Deere Unstyled "G" Tractor Repair Catalog Manual # 53-R Dated Apr, 15 1940. I paid out the wazoo for the original which was in pristine condition and must have been kept in the mattress along with that Deere dealers money because it was almost perfect...
This Catalog is for the "Unstyled" G's which were originally supposed to be a Model F, but back in the day Deere figured out that the power of Diesel Fuel was going to change things...The screaming GM Diesels(Jimmy's) and the early success of Caterpillar, Bosch, and IHC Gas over Diesel conversions caused Deere to re-evaluate it's lettering system, and although the "G" became styled and then morphed into the John Deere 70, the days of the big gas "Poppers" were coming to a twilight...
UNTIL........The Collectors and Tractor Pullers saved the day, and rescued these fine old machines from the creekbeds and fencerows...
So, Why is this manual important??? Because, it lists the part numbers you need to know if you are trying to restore, collect, or rebuild one of these fine tractors... It also has a nice picture of the Flathead G...and you pullers know that one... Don't miss this chance to own a nice reprint of the baddest of the old school Deere's...
