Recently purchased from an Italian Trousseau, this 1940's bed set ( fancy top sheet and pair of pillow cases ) is just lovely. It has an 9" over lap and measures 79" in width by 89-1/2" in length. They are reminiscent of a very grand and regal period in linens. This would fit a double bed. The pair of pillowcases are equally as beautiful, and measure 21-1/2" in width by 29-3/4" in length. Both cases and sheet are edged with scalloped and cutwork flowers. The flowers stamens are raised seed stitches. Extra fine cotton with a high thread count, buttery soft and seems rarely used. Would look lovely on your bed, or, would make a great gift. This set has not been washed, and is in excellent condition, the cotton is strong and sturdy, very few small old age small brown stains, and no holes.They do have a very faint patina from years of storage, but will come snow white with a first wash. Although unused, there are little speckeled age marks no bigger than the head of a pin. This in no way detracts from the beauty of this sheet.
