1940's SUPREME COURT JUDGE HUGO BLACK SIGNED CARD

Rare, 1940's Autograph of United States Supreme Court Judge Hugo L. Black on Official "Supreme Court of the United States" Card. Associate Justice Hugo L. Black (1886-1971) represented the state of Alabama in the United States Senate from 1926 to 1937, and served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1937 to 1971. Widely regarded as one of the most influential Supreme Court justices in the 20th century, he was nominated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and confirmed by the Senate by a vote of 63 to 13. He was first of nine Roosevelt nominees to the Court, and with the exception of William O. Douglas, he outlasted them all. .

This hand signed, medium weight card measures approx. 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" and is printed at the top with text that reads "Supreme Court of the United States / Washington, D.C.". The card is signed by Black simply "Hugo L. Black" (autographed while he sat as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court).

The Supreme Court Card in signed in dark, bold ink and is in very good condition - generally clean, crisp and beautiful with the only flaw being staple holes at the lower left hand corner.
