1946 Gibson Southern Jumbo (vintage acoustic guitar)

Up for sale is an original owner '46 SJ. This guitar is very clean, with a beautiful sunburst finish. There are a few dings here and there typical for a guitar of this vintage, but the finish (while being checked all over) is fresh and shiny. No finish added anywhere. It has original tuners except for one changed "G string", to an early '50s Kluson that appears to be for Martin guitars. A partial refret to the 15th fret. Otherwise, the guitar is original. No extra holes ever added at the tuners. There is a small screw whole on the back of the neck where the owners mother mounted a strap button. There are a few cracks, the majority of which are on the sides, one on the back and just a small pick guard crack on the top. They have (mostly) been filled with hide glue (prior to me owning), and are stable. Structurally the guitar has been inspected and found to be very stable. There were "initials" added to the top on the upper bout at the neck (removed prior to my ownership), and nothing into the wood. Real pearl inlays. The neck is large and full. "D" shaped, with a lot of shoulder. 1 3/4 inch nut. Action off the 12th fret is just over an eighth of an inch.

This guitar sounds amazing; deep, rich, vibrant tone. It is very light weight and resonant. I've played a few other guitars from this period and this one sounds very piano like comparatively. It's just a wonderful instrument, sure to appreciate. Shipped in a newer hard case the owner bought in the '80s. All work since my ownership has been through an authorized Martin warranty repair technician. I have more pics available, and will do an in hand phone inspection.
