This is a very interesting rare orchid reference book. It is very rare to be inscribed by the author. The date is the same on the title and tail page telling the printing type information. 1947 is the year of the first edition. The black and white illustrations are vivid and crisp.

The book is in VERY GOOD condition. The book has a red paper cover with black lettering on the front. The cover is sunned around the edges...as well as the spine cover being very sunned. The pages are clean. A couple of the first pages have a small brown stain in the top margin. Two pages are very age-colored from a newspaper article that was stored in the book. The binding is tight. It has some musty smell. The book contains 190 pages including an index of orchid names. The book size is about 10 1/2" x 7 1/4".
