I have a 1947 "A" John Deere. This tractor was gone completely through 6 years ago. I took it in on trade on another tractor because I had the dream of pulling in all the county fairs and showing it also, well there never seems to be time for that so it needs a new home where it will be taken care of like it should have. The engine and transmission were gone through. The engine is very high compression as the man who built it also intended on pulling it but got side tracked with different projects. The carb was rebuilt. Some polishing was done on the head and intake to make smoother air flow. The man spent over $4000 restoring this tractor. It has new clam shell fenders, new wheels and tires, and new paint with 3 coats of clear coat. This is one of the nicest A's you will ever see. I have used the tractor for hay rides for the kids and pulled a plow a little with it. I also had it hooked to a 6 foot offset breaking disc last fall and it barely opened the governor. It is a very strong puller, it will pull the front wheels when pulling hard. It needs a detail job as i've used it and it would be ready for parade or show.Also the starter and generator were converted to 12 volt but still look original. The only problem it has is the hood has been cut to replace the muffler years ago and the man who restored it thought it should be left that way so it was authentic. It has a very nice patch job that was painted with the rest of the tractor. Also the seat back got wet from some blowing rain coming in the shed and I didn't notice the water soaked in and the wood got soft and the screws came out. I have the cushion but a new one is available from steiner tractor for around 40 bucks. It is located in southeast Missouri. I must get a $300 deposit within 48 hours and the balance due within 7 days. Tractor can stay here as long as need be within reason. If this tractor isn't everything I say it is you can get your money back minus listing fees. Don't bid if you aren't going to pay. Delivery available for $2.80 a mile. PS-the white stuff around the stack is not permanent-just were a farmall loving bird showed his appreciation for john deere. LOL- sorry I didn't take time to wash it before taking pictures.
