Item specifics
Condition: UsedBrand: Martin
1948 Martin 000-18 / Excellent Guitar /  Adirondack Spruce Top

I am not a collector or luthier, so my technical description may lack some details.

Having said that:

I have played many new and vintage Martin 000-18's over the years.  I played several vintage (1937-1959) and 2 new ones, on the day I chose this one.
I hate to see it go...but I have other priorities now, and will learn to get by with a new 000 (even if it has less magic).

I hope this one goes to a player.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
My subjective Scale of 1-10 (referenced to other 000's)

-Loudness: 8-9   (a loud 000...almost as loud as some D-18's )
-Overall Tone: 8-9    it’s got  "that thing"
-Ease of Play Finger Style: 8
-Ease of Play Flat Pick: 9
-Structural Condition: 8+
-Finish Condition: 7+  (Original Finish ..but this old box has been played..and it shows...top is maybe an 8...back a 7...sides a 6 )
-Neck: 8+  (thin to medium...more of a round feel than a "V" type neck)
-Frets: 7+ (If you beat this guitar really hard...like on bluegrass backup or hard rhythm chord work.. it gets just a bit of a buzz on the B string at the third fret...a tech said it was "not too hard to fix"...the frets are basically in good shape. ..........Update on 11/02  I got that fixed!
-Case: 6+ (none original, after-market hard case)

No Top Cracks (some nicks..see photo) / Back has one repaired hairline 3-4" crack...hard to see (many scratches)
No Side Cracks / more scratches / 3/4" puncture repair, and a 1/4 inch jack repair...both filled with wood putty…Solid repairs but not pretty)
Original Machines: (holds tune well)  /  Non Original Bridge

Low starting bid :)

Good Luck!

On Nov-08-09 at 10:46:32 PST, seller added the following information:

Note: In the picture of the back of the guitar, there is a reflection of some window blinds in the upper left, that look like a waver in the finish...but its just a reflection. Also, on the upper right the bright spot is a reflection of the flash and not a blemish or wear spot. Thanks.
