Conservatively graded. This MONSTER ’50 is struck from the same die that has produced the lone PCGS PR 66 DEEP CAMEO and NGC PF 67 ULTRA CAMEO. The cameo contrast on all three coins is very, very close in the intensity of frost, and the depth of mirror. For the record, in “Cameo And Brilliant Proof Coinage Of The 1950 To 1970 Era” the die that has produced this trio of “wonder” 1950’s is die #5, pictured on page 35.
For our clients who have been with us more than a few years, recall that both the 1950 PCGS PR66DCAM and the 1950 NGC PF 67 ULTRA CAMEO originally started life in CAMEO holders when I originally placed them. In other words, it eventually upgraded – as I thought it might, and told the client so when he bought the coin. The example now being offered could be its twin. I would have to put the two side by side to see if there is a difference in the cameo contrast – both are extraordinary for their date! Of course, if the 1950 now being offered were to one day make it into a PF 67 ULTRA CAMEO holder, it would become a $60,000 - $80,000 coin! 1-1-3
