This is a fine 1952 First BOMC edition of "The Old Man and the Sea", Published in 1952 with the "A" on the copyright page, still in it's original D.J.!!
Boards are covered in light blue cloth. Script "Ernest Hemingway" blindstamped on front board. Silver-lettering on spine is slightly worn at top. Original pictorial dustjacket in brown and blue with black and white lettering to front and the blue-tinted photograph by Lee Samuels on back.
All first edition pointers - "A" on copyright-page. Dustjacket also with all first state pointers with blue-tinted photograph, which was later altered to olive, and the two lines of small production symbols at the end of the text on back-flap, Later printings of the book were in a variant binding of dark blue cloth." (Hanneman, 24, A).
This book is in fine condition, except for an ex-libris plate on the FFEP (a former owner's library plate), There are no markings or writing of any kind anywhere in this book!!. The corners are straight and true with NO "Bumps", there is No shelfwear or rubbing or fading to the boards (covers) or spine, no soiling, no tears or rips, The uncut (untrimmed) pages are clean and bright and in wonderful condition.
The original blue tinted D.J. is in great condition, it has a tiny bit of shelfwear to the top & bottom of the spine, a closed tear near top, otherwise it is in great condition.
This Edition is scarce and highly collectible, so get it while you can!
