For Sale: 1955 Gretsch Country Club Green Cadillac Guitar with Original Tweed Case and Original Gretsch Guarantee Certificate showing model (6196) with Serial number 15520 ! ! ! NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! This beautiful guitar had been a one owner guitar, but as the wear on the neck you can obviously tell that he played it alot and he played all the way up the neck. (By The Way He Was A Great Player!) There are some (beer?) stains on the back of the case and the case handle seems a little fragile. I am not 100% sure if the bridge has not been replaced at some point. The original owner is now deceased so I cannot ask if it is the original bridge. To me it looks like a gibson tunomatic? The adjustment threaded washer is missing on the bottom of the Bridge but it still plays great without it which leads me to believe that it is a replaced Bridge. Everything else appears completely original ! Heck maybe the Bridge is too, although I am Not claiming for sure that it is . It has the Arrow Metal Control Knobs and it features the Bigsby Vibrato that was only put on a few of the 6196 guitars! The paint shows hairline surface cracks. Considering it's age it is expected. I would rather have it like THIS than (repainted!) Nothing appears to be modified at all ! It plays very nice, although the strings need replaced. The picture with the (Gretsch Strings and purchase Certificate) states that it was purchased at Koehler Jewlery Store in Pennsylvania! This would be an incredible addition to any collector of rare and fine guitars. I accept only paypal and the purchase price will include Insurance. Please email any questions you may have. Serious Bidders Only Please! All sales will be final !!! Good Luck and let the Bidding begin!
On May-19-08 at 07:32:28 PDT, seller added the following information:I want to point out that I just noticed that there is apparently some pencil marks on the inside of F- holes. It looks like a little kid might have put a pencil in F- holes a (long time ago.) I didn't notice till I looked real close. . You can't notice it unless you look closely inside. If it is pencil (which I think it is ) then I think it can be erased. I didn't want to try it because I was afraid i would mess up the label. Either way I have the original paperwork from when the guitar was purchased and I don't think this detracts the value in ANY way. I know how much I have in it and unless the bidding goes higher I am going to lose my @#&% on this beautiful guitar! I should have put a reserve but I am in need of some quick money so I won't lose my home and I will sell it to the highest bidder. Tweed case is kind of rough (as in picture) but it looks good and dry on the inside. I think the stain on the outside was apparantly from a spilled beer at a club! I will have other items for sale soon. Thank you. And again ALL SALES FINAL ! If you are not a potential buyer please don't bid. By the way I will ship this Green Cadillac in a regular guitar package. (Professionally Packaged and Shipped Fully Insured! GOOD LUCK!!!
