Here is a classic Bach Stradivarius Bb trumpet, hand made at the Mt. Vernon, New York manufacturing location and completed in 1956. See the rare Bach documentation that accompanies it. A real collectible, but can also be played daily. Original finish, natural brass with silver trim. Medium bore, bright tone. Has never been re-lacquered, so its original tone is preserved. However, the 52-year old finish shows plenty of age and patina. The bell was once dented and has been repaired. In addition, a small dent remains on the back of the bell ferrule (which doesn't affect playability), the water key on the tuning slide has been re-soldered. While the horn is not perfect cosmetically, it shows lots of character and is a strong player. There are no patches and no signs of rot. It's been given a thorough inspection and cleaning maintenance. New valve springs and pads. Valves are excellent, smooth, solid action. Classic mother of pearl valve buttons. All slides are free and smooth.
Quite a bit of research has been done to learn the history and background of this particular trumpet. The provenance of this trumpet is perfect, and includes the rare guarantee certificate, hand-signed by Vincent Bach, attesting that the horn has passed the 'personal inspection and playing test of its creator'. All numbers match, serial number 14499, on the certificate, on the horn, and individually etched on the valves. The original bill of sale to the first owner, a photo copy of the trumpet's exclusive Bach shop card, and research notes will be provided. Included are a black Selmer trumpet hard case (not the original trumpet case) and two mouthpieces- an original Mt. Vernon 10 1/2 C mouthpiece, and a Jettone Al Hirt Model “A” mouthpiece.
