eBay store listing. This isn't a traditional auction, instead of bidding, this has an asking price which we'll take or people can make an offer against it which we review. Because I have to use Buy it Now on these, I set them to require approval to bid - it's the only way to keep scam artists from ending the listing (eBay makes it real tough to get the fees back). So if you're interested in this item, please shoot me an email before you try to offer or buy it. Thanks for your understanding.
Speaking of understanding, eBay adds the first couple lines above because they don't understand motor vehicle sales or repair and wish to force people to use the $40 a shot, $50 more if it sells, flat-fee auto categories loaded with endless deadbeat bidders. By their definition of a parts car no vehicle could be listed in this category. The irony is they'd get more in fees on every vehicle that sells over about $2000, through this category, and that's what eBay is all about - the money, not the sellers that are it's customers, not the buyers, not any of the people.
1957 Dodge Suburban. In 1957 Dodge wagons had their own series, the Suburban came with the base trim level, the equivalent of a Coronet. My book does not show production, but the 2dr wagons were not as common as the 4-doors; I have numbers for Plymouth which show about 3 1/2 times as many of the 4-door wagons produced. This car has the 325 Poly V8 with 2-barrel carb, Torqueflite, but no power assist options. It did come with a radio.
This car was hardly touched in the junkyard since parked around 1965, missing only the radio and some other dash bits (wiper and headlight switch, one gauge). The underhood has radiator, air cleaner, carb, generator and starter all there. It needs a right fender, rockers, floorpans up front and the rear tub behind the axle, and needs some frame work. However this car is not rotted out with huge holes in the frame like most of these cars go just ahead of the rear wheels where the frame kicks up. In fact it's the best one of these I've seen short of cars that sat upside down for years. While I do not have any photos to show underneath it, this car came with over 1000 lbs of parts in it (one of the reasons I bought it) - 25 starters, 20 generators, 15 distributors, a bunch of carbs, fuel pumps, water pumps, and some other pieces - if it were going to come apart, it would have in bringing it home. Glass is all in good shape except one crack in the window in the tailgate; window rolls up and down fine, hinges need some PB blaster on them, but latch seems to work and there is just one small hole in the lower right side of the tailgate. Interior is fair, most of the cardboard headliner is there but loose, seats are all there, steering wheel is in nice shape.
It does need another taillight bezel on the right side. I do see one eBay seller offering panels for these, or a donor car could be used to save this, such as a more common 2-door sedan. I think with some work this would be a very savable and distinctive vehicle - and the factory black and white paint lends to being dressed up as a police car, although this never was used as such. I brought it home for the parts in it, because it was distinctive, and because the '58 Coronet convertible I pulled out that was 2 cars over was really solid as well (don't ask, it sold in about 3 days). Price is per Old Cars Price Guide Magazine for a #5 car.
Pictures basically show it as it came off the trailer, depending on the weather and what kind of time I have I'm going to get this rolling on some good tires and clean it up, plus tuck those side stainless pieces inside the car. The trees had grown up around this one so bad I didn't even notice it in February, so it's covered in that crud stuff that comes off them and needs a good scrubbing.
I will not part this car out for any reason, so please don't ask; selling parts is more work for less money and leaves me with a worthless hulk that has to be scrapped. What a buyer does with the car is up to them, but we are antique car dealers, not a junkyard.
Terms of sale: All cars are sold AS-IS. These are old cars and many have rust issues, they can have problems which are not apparent without a more detailed inspection and as such we may not be aware of the issues. Any prospective buyer is welcomed to make an appointment to come inspect a car in person prior to buying. Nonrefundable deposit of 10% or $500 whichever is greater due within 7 days. Must be paid in full or arrangements made within 14 days. 30 days storage is included to give you plenty of time to arrange to get the vehicle. We're flexible with weather concerns particularly in the winter; storage on paid cars can be arranged in advance for $50 per month, but if a buyer can't be contacted or is unable to make suitable arrangements, $10 per day storage fees will be applied against the amount that's been paid on the car. We're not unreasonable, but we do need to run this as a proper business.

eBay forces me to include this redundant and confusing statement in this listing - their words, not mine: “This vehicle is being sold for parts only and is not operational or street legal. Therefore, upon purchase, it will need to be either towed or trailered. eBay encourages its members to learn about their state laws governing vehicle sales prior to the sale or purchase of a vehicle.”
