The Salem China Company is located in Salem, Ohio. It began operation in 1898 and produced china until 1967.
Good Condition: No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. There is some crazing and a couple of flecks missing on the gold trim. There is 1 spot of grit under the glaze on the front rim. The pattern is in good condition - only 1 utensil scratch.
Back Stamp: Crown over the Salem log with plate and cup & "57U" under the logo. According to Lehner's US Marks on Pottery, Porcelain and Clay, the "57" is the year and "U" stands for the potter.
