"Every boy wants a Remco toy" said their slogan and in 1965 the toy to get was the Bulldog Tank. An incredible attic find, here is the legendary and desirable Remco "U.S. Army Bulldog Tank" #607, a battery operated classic from the 1960's, still in operable condition and still with the original box that has all the factory insert pieces! All eight plastic shells as well as their eight matching brass cartridge cases are here, as is the cartridge loader clip and the snap-in cartridge retainer bar. As far as we can tell, the only thing missing is the vinyl flag piece and the instruction sheet. Take a look at our pictures for how this toy looked when first opened decades ago; the metal turret barrel with its unmarked plastic tip piece mount in the top corrugated insert, with the turret cartridge clip protruding just to the side. Wow. To be honest, we didn't fool around with this long enough to figure exactly where all the other insert pieces fit.
But we did stick four "D" cell batteries (BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED) into the whisper clean battery box and the tank immediately responded to commands from the two joy-stick controls at the rear, rolling forward and turning as commanded. Frankly, the tank moved slowly, but if memory serves (we, too, had one of these as a child), it was always a bit ponderous in movement, much like its full-size counterpart. We did NOT attempt to fire any of the bullets. Nor did we spend a lot of time cleaning the tank, a task that will be left to the new owner. There is one thing that definitely needs noting: the tread guard on the right side of the tank has a large chip missing from the front edge. While this is not very noticeable, for the break is quite clean, it does detract from the overall grading of the toy. Curiously, only some of the light plastic drive and idler wheels have slightly toned with age, but the flexible rubberized tread tracks seem quite supple still. At the rear, the foil applique sticker has full gloss but looks a bit faded in spots. All in all, the tank itself grades as a C6- or better, because of the aforementioned missing piece, with no other damage, cracks, scrapes or deleterious wear.
Outside, the original corrugated sales box is all complete and very solid, just soiled a bit and visibly aged. A lot of this soil might be able to be erased with sufficient attention. The top lid piece has a slight bow to it, but we are really nit-picking here so you know exactly what you will receive. Naturally, the box has some visible ageing to the white base paper but remains very vivid. We grade the box an easy C6 or better, primarily downgraded because of age toning. This beauty is a winning combination: a great toy in terrific condition, still retaining its full factory packing. It's just the way you want to find these old classics. Best of all, we present this classic Remco "boys' toy" AT NO RESERVE!

We do NOT use eBay\'s Invoicing system. If after three days you do not see an Invoice from us, it was probably blocked by your ISP's anti-spam techniques (especially if you use AOL or one of the free e-mail services). Email us and we will send a duplicate through a different account. We have experienced a great difficulty with Invoice delivery recently and have no way of verifying whether Invoices have been received or not. It is YOUR responsibility to contact us if no Invoice is received!
For estimation purposes only, when packaged this item will weigh approximately 5#, although actual shipping costs will be Invoiced upon the auction\'s close. On Apr-28-08 at 09:52:29 PDT, seller added the following information:
Oh man, our bad! We did not notice until just now that there is a sizable piece missing out of the leading edge of the tread shield on one side of the tank. We apologize for this oversight. With this new information, we must retract our grading of the tank and only grade it a C6 or better, even though the other side of the tank displays so much better. If any bidders wish to cancel their bids because of this new information, we will understand and will not object. Sorry!
