eBay store listing. This isn't a traditional auction, instead of bidding,
this has an asking price which we'll take or people can make an offer
against it which we review. Because I have to use Buy it Now on these, I
set them to require approval to bid - it's the only way to keep scam artists
from ending the listing (eBay makes it real tough to get the fees back). So
if you're interested in this item, please shoot me an email before you try
to offer or buy it. Thanks for your understanding.
We are not a salvage yard, we do not part cars out. What you do with a car after you buy it is your business, but it's all or none. Please ignore the nonsense eBay inserts above, they have little to no understanding about motor vehicles.
1961 Chrysler Newport 2-door hardtop. Has been off the road since roughly 1978. Still, for this year and model in New York state it's not in bad shape, though folks used to west coast cars will think it only suited for parts. They only made around 7,000 of this model and body style. My friend bought it and this is his asking price, you can feel free to make an offer.
Body: Missing bumpers, though I can probably pick up a set (have a '60 parts car on the property). Front clip is weak - fenders have rot to lower edges and header has some issues. Some rot to lower quarters. These are unibody and while the frame rails in the back are fine, the rear crossmember and bumper mounts will need work. I believe this will keep it from passing a vehicle inspection in some states. There is some minor rot behind the front bumper brackets as well, also common to these cars. The trunk pan is shot on the right side. Hood is solid, doors look good but were frozen shut the day I inspected it. Outside remote adjust mirror is in good shape, taillights are loose and in fair shape - the lenses could be made useable again with a couple coats of transparent candy red paint (Testors makes it for about $3 a can), they'll be driver quality at best but should get you on the road until you want to spend the cash on a nice set. It is missing some stainless pieces but here again I can find some of them.
One person who wrote seemed to think this car had a lot of dents in it; there are no dents in the car and I have no idea what they were looking at. There are eighteen photos posted (I may have taken a few down to save on disk space), it may take a few minutes for all of them to open.
Interior: Nice interior on this car. Seats have covers over original uhpolstery which are starting to wear thin. All mats in car, dash is nice, needs a dashpad and the headliner has a few holes in it but all the chrome is in good shape. Because the door was frozen shut I'm unable to determine the VIN.
Mechanical: 361-2bbl and torqueflite. Previous owner claims the car's brakes were up about two years ago and that it did run some time prior to that. The motor can be turned over by hand. It has a Radio Shack electronic ignition added on the fenderwell. It does roll and steer fine and should load easy, you may want to change a couple of the tires (these are 4 1/4"x5 pattern, most RWD Mopar/Ford rims will fit).
Terms of sale: All cars are sold AS-IS. These are old cars and many have
rust issues, they can have problems which are not apparent without a more
detailed inspection and as such we may not be aware of the issues. Any
prospective buyer is welcomed to make an appointment to come inspect a car
in person prior to buying. Nonrefundable deposit of 10% or $500 whichever
is greater due within 7 days. Must be paid in full or arrangements made
within 14 days. 30 days storage is included to give you plenty of time to
arrange to get the vehicle. We're flexible with weather concerns
particularly in the winter; storage on paid cars can be arranged in advance
for $50 per month, but if a buyer can't be contacted or is unable to make
suitable arrangements, $10 per day storage fees will be applied against the
amount that's been paid on the car. We're not unreasonable, but we do need
to run this as a proper business.
How to pay: Check, cash in person, money order(s). PayPal is also an option but I prefer not to use their service because of the associated fees.
NOTE: Cashiers checks only accepted for the exact amount of the transaction. They must be able to be verified by the issuing bank before being accepted.
Don't forget to check all my other listings, we have many other cars in the eBay store format from nice to rough - something for everyone.

eBay's latest attempt to confuse people with this redundant, yet required, statement: “This vehicle is being sold for parts only and is not operational or street legal. Therefore, upon purchase, it will need to be either towed or trailered. eBay encourages its members to learn about their state laws governing vehicle sales prior to the sale or purchase of a vehicle.” Thank you eBay peanut gallery.
