The item for auction is a 1962 Canadian Barbie Doll Case, identified as extremely rare and unique ~ so much so, it has been given the title of one of the "Crown Jewels of Vintage Vinyl" by the definitive book on vintage Barbie vinyl items, Collector's Guide to Barbie Doll Vinyl Cases by Connie Craig Kaplan.
In chapter 10 of her book, titled "Crown Jewels" of Vintage Vinyl, Kaplan describes the items that appear within the chapter as, "examples of the very best Barbie doll vinyl products ever created. A serious collector of the vinyl products discussed in this book should make it a point to add these products to their collection. This case appears in this chapter on page 163.
Kaplan states, "The Barbie doll case shown in Plate 285 is believed to be from Canada and shows exceptionally nice graphics - and note especially the interesting variation of Winter Holiday being worn by the Barbie doll on the far right!"
This case was found in Canada, furthering Kaplan's belief that this case was a Canadian exclusive item. The case is in overall very good condition. Bright shiny vinyl, vibrant colors, excellent handle and latch. None of the common side, corner or seam splits except one very small spot on the inside lower left corner on the closing flap. The case's metal hanger is still present. If there was an accessory drawer it has since been removed. Inside the case is clean and lovely.
