Vintage 1963 Epiphone FT79 Texan Acoustic guitar

This is is the same guitar model and era of the famous 64 Texan that Paul McCartney owned and recorded the Beatles hit song Yesterday .  He still uses that same guitar presently whenever he performs Yesterday.

This was one of the guitar models that was really beating up the Gibson Jumbo's until  Gibson finally just bought out Epiphone in order to remove the tough competition to many of their main guitar lines

The bridgeplate has been repaired and re-enforced and the plastic bridge has been replaced with a custom fit ebony bridge keeping with the old mounting design and

improved upon with gluing the bridge to the top as is standard for all high quality guitars built today. The bridge pins were shot and replaced with similar era bridge pins

Epiphone has been a part of the Gibson family of brands since 1957, and McCartney’s original guitar was made in the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 1964. The guitar, serial number 194959, was officially a model FT-79N (N for natural finish), that had left the Gibson factory on May 23, 1964. McCartney bought it in New York in 1965. List price at the time was $175, and the case was extra. Today, original Texan guitars are selling for as much as 20 times or more that amount.
