Bassett was the studious 19th century Huntsville, Alabama physician immortalized by Dr. William B. Osler in his famous and much-praised 1896 essay, "An Alabama Student."
During its early days here, Carmichael was Assistant Dean of the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama and was a frequent contributor to medical journals on the subject of Alabama medical history and biography. I doubt if he had more than 50 copies done of this 1964 offprint.
Except for Dr Carmichael's small inked notation on the front cover, a fine copy. INCLUDES A BIBLIOGRAPHY for further study of Bassett.
