Both a stardard 43 and 43 star bell is included with this auction. The serial number on the horn dates it around the mid 60s when the factory moved from MT. Vernon, NY to Elkhart, IN. The horn says Elkhart but the case says Mt. Vernon, NY. This could be because the horn was made right after or during the transfer or because this is certainly a special order configuration, especially in silver. This fabulous horn was owned by the late Charles Lowe of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and is part of his collection recently acquired by Dirt Cheep Music. The attachment bracket has been resoldered at some point, and the entire instrument has been professionaly inspected and cleaned as noted below. As a player's remark, we've been told that the valves could be "honed" in order to attain faster action, but that the compression of the valves themselves is nice and the focus and response of the instrument is wonderful. There are of course the usual light surface scratches in the lacquer that can been seen by holding the horn at the right angle in the right light, and you would expect these types of light polish scratches in any preowned instrument. Besides the small repair to the attachment bracket the horn is in amazing condition, and will arrive to you ready to play. This Bach Stradivarius Model 43 with extra Star Bell includes the following:
