This GRETSCH 1966 NASHVILLE is all original with the exception of the mute which I had replaced with Gretsch part(old one dried out and crumbled). This guitar is in amazing conditon...no dings,scratches,breaks...no issues!I had it gone over by my Lutherie ,who is Gretsch authorized repair shop for years, and he could not believe how clean it was, including the original case.He cleaned it,put on the mute, and set it up(about 9 months ago). His only comment was if I was to really gig this guitar(which I did not)it may need a re-fret after awhile. But it plays fine, neck straight.I looked a long time to find one in this condition and I hate to let it go but as with all us collectors I have my eye on something else.Oh yeah there is a small crack on the pickguard near the screw, you can see it in the picture and the bridge on it is not the original of course but it comes with the rocker bridge, the person I purchased it from switched them for better intonation. The binding is all intact with some cracking, worst shown, but all stable.Any questions please feel free to contact me.
NOTE: IT OCCURRED TO ME THE PICTURE OF THE HEEL LOOKS AS IF THE NECK WAS RE-SET,THIS IS NOT THE CASE.IT IS ONLY SHRINKAGE OF THE HEEL BINDING.I ADDED PICTURES OF IT FROM THE SIDE.
NOTE: The color question had me research a little further since it is kind of hard to tell what it is,walnut...faded red(which my kids seem to think). If you go to www.provide.net/~cfh/gretsch.html and go to the chet atkins sections there is reference to dark red walnut finish, dark mohogany, walnut. This may help.
