On consignment one 1966 Martin D-18.Here's the story... A family from Canada moved to Arkansas where they had a family band. The father and one son played guitar. The other son played the drums. In the early 80's the guitar playing brother (owner of the Martins) was killed in a car accident. In recent years the father also passed away. The son who played the drums stuck the guitars away in a closet where they've been until last week. He now wants them sold and is more concerned that they go to a good home where they will be played and enjoyed. Please see my other auctions for the 1978 D-35. The father's guitars have been sold locally. This 1966 Martin D-18 is the king of bluegrass guitars. It's been in a closet for almost three decades and still rings out. The guitar is a one owner and as you can see in the photos has had some "unauthorized" repairs. I'm not sure if the bridge is original but as you can see it was re glued and cosmetically needs cleaning up. The same goes for the neck. There was a reset and needs to be cleaned up as well. Structurally the guitar is crack free and for a 1966 pretty solid. There was a clip in pickup years ago but only the input jack remains. The Gibson case (vintage J series) has bluegrass stickers but is solid. If you require more photos or have any questions I'll do my best to find out. I only ship using Canada Post (cheapest & safest). You can get shipping quotes from www.canadapost.ca . As always good luck to all the bidders. |
