Short Stop Sonny Jackson's Uniform #16

The offered item is a rare, 3 year style, all original 1969 Atlanta Braves game worn road grey flannel jersey.  This #16 jersey was worn by 12 year MLB veteran short stop Sonny Jackson during the Braves 1969 Western Division Championship season.  Jackson's Braves sported the second best record in the NL at 93-69 and despite 3 home runs by Hall of Fame team mate Hank Aaron, the Braves lost in the NLCS to the eventual World Series Champion New York Mets.

In 1969 the Braves switched to a blue on red 2-tone tackle twill Braves name in script diagonally placed accross the chest, from the former red on blue Braves name found in prior years.  The awesome Screaming Brave embroidered patch is on the left sleeve and the 1969 red, white and blue embroidered 100th anniversary baseball centennial patch is on the right sleeve.  The jersey back has the uniform #16, also done in two-tone blue on red tackle twill.  The inner jersey collar has the team issued felt swatch with the chain stitched numbers 16-40-69, identifying the jersey's Number, Size and Year.  The outer left tail has a red, white and blue Spalding manufacture's tag with a size 40 tag to the right of it.  Just below those are the washing instructions tag and the Set 1 1969 flag tag.  Just below the Braves name is a mint black marker signature "Sonny Jackson".   This great jersey shows moderate wear yet it has phenominal eye appeal and displays beautifully as the pictures indicate.  There is no thinning from overuse.  It appears as though this lucky survivor was spared the fate of minor league re-cycling.  Every stitch, every patch, and every identifier on this great Braves flannel jersey is authentic and original, with no restoration.     

Finding authentic vintage game worn flannels from the 1960's is getting tougher all the time.  Finding all original unrestored examples is nearly impossible.  

This stunning flannel jersey comes with with a full photographic Letter of Authenticity from Ed Dolan Jr.  It also comes with a full photographic Letter of Authenticity from MEARS who have graded the shirt A-10.  JSA, James Spence Authentication, has examined Jackson's autograph and has deemed it authentic.  The JSA Letter of Authenticity is included as well.
