1970 or 1971 Gibson ES-150DC Double Cutaway Archtop Guitar. This Kalamazoo, Michigan (original factory)
made guitar was built in 1970 or 1971. Gibson is quite ambiguous with
serial numbers so it is hard to pin this one down to the precise year -
it's either a 1970 or 1971. This is a 335 style double-cutaway guitar
but the body, at 3 inches, is thicker than the 1 3/4" thick 335. It is also fully hollowbody without any center block as in the ES-335 so, while this guitar is thicker than an ES-335, it is lighter in weight. This
guitar was also originally outfitted with a unique feature which is not
common but oh-so-friendly: A master volume control.
This guitar is in outstanding condition for a 1970 or 1971 instrument. No flaws, repairs, breaks or major dings of any kind. All original tuners, tailpiece, hardware, case, etc.
According to George Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars: "Double Rounded Cutaway, 3" Deep, 2 humbucking pickups, 4 knobs on lower treble bout, master volume on upper treble bout, triple-bound top, single-bound back, single-bound fingerboard, small block inlay, crown peghead inlay, natural, walnut or cherry finish. Available: 1969-74."
The best part of this guitar is the thin and super fast neck. To play it is like playing the perfect guitar. 2008 Price Guide Lists this guitar value at $2,750.00
