Description
Here is an elegant Platinum Floral Scroll
Pen with the original price tag.
In the 1970's
Japanese long short pens were amazingly popular. These were modeled after the top selling Pilot
Elite, where the cap was extra long and the barrel was extra short.
When the cap is posted for writing, the pen is a normal sized
pen, but when the pen is capped for carrying it telescopes down
to a smaller sized, easy to carry pen. This was a huge craze in
the late 1960's and early 1970's in Japan. Everyone who knew how
to write had to have one of these pens. Since the short pens were so popular that not as many of these tall pens were made, and today they are much harder to find.
At first, nearly all of these pens were the traditional
black resin with gold trim, but Platinum and Sailor tried to capture
more of the younger market by offering brighter colors and metal
overlay pens like this one here.
The pen has a gold scroll pattern with red flowers out lined in gold. An elegant pen.
The clip is the spring hinge type, so it easily
adjusts to any pocket width. A nice little piece of engineering.
I wish all my pens had this.
The inset 18K gold nib is very similar to the Montblanc
pens of the 1970's. Japanese pen makers were never shy about borrowing
names or designs.

Also keep in mind
that you only need to pay shipping once for an order.
If you win one item and intend to bid on more, simply
let us know and we will hold your pens and ship them
all together to save you money. Also it is true that
we often ship bonus items with our orders. No Parker
Snakes or solid gold overlay pens, nothing like that,
but always something interesting. So if you receive
all your pens and find something extra, it wasn't
a mistake. Keep in mind that a bonus is simply that.
Do not bid, expecting one, and we certainly can not
take orders on what someone thinks their bonus should
be, but we do like to make sure our bidders are always
happy and completely satisfied with their wins. |
