It certainly was an era! Capitalizing on the mid-to-late 1970's homespun country look, some creative crafter did a take-off on the caned chair seats of old vintage kitchen sets.
An outer circle of stained wood, carved with leaves and berries, surrounds an inset of woven cane. All of this was placed in a mold and hot liquid Lucite was poured in, preserving the objects against dust and fading. Finished off with a layer of black and with three feet added, it became a useful trivet.
Now it can grace your vintage kitchen. 8 inches in diameter.
