VERY RARE 1972 GUILD F 50 BLONDE ACCOUSTIC. THIS GUITAR KICKS ANY MARTIN GUITAR'S ASS! SERIAL NUMBER 62281, MADE ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE ALFRED DRONGE TRAGICALLY DIED IN A PLANE CRASH, SO IT'S A DRONGE ERA GUITAR, BUILT WITH SUPERIOR CRAFTSMANSHIP. GOLD GROVER TUNERS, ORIGINAL TO THE INSTRUMENT. THE GUITAR HAS TWO SEALED CRACKS, ONE ON THE UPPER BOUT, ONE ON THE LOWER BOUT. I BOUGHT IT THAT WAY IN 1985 AND THE CRACKS HAVE REMAINED SEALED. A FEW UPPER BOUT SMALL SCRATCHES, SOME WEAR AROUND THE SOUND HOLE. THE INLAY ON THE BOTTOM STRAP BUTTON HAS LOST A PIECE AND THE REMAINDER IS SOLID, BUT SHOWING CRACKING. THE GUITAR HAS BEEN LOVINGLY PLAYED AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF IN A HUMIDFIED ROOM. SHE SOUNDS LIKE A CANNON WHEN STRUMMED LOUD AND LIKE A PUSSY CAT PURRING WHEN PLAYED GENTLY. THIS GUITAR WAS BORN IN THE WESTERLY, RHODE ISLAND FACTORY, WHERE THE SAME ATTENTION TO FINE QUALITY CONTINUED FROM THE HOBOKEN FACTORY. THE GUITAR WILL BE SHIPPED IN A HARD SHELL CASE, NOT ORIGINAL TO THE INSTRUMENT- NEVER HAD IT. I'VE ESTIMATED THAT THE SHIPPING WEIGHT WILL BE SOMEWHERE AROUND 20 LBS, BUT DON'T QUOTE ME. IF YOU WANT TO USE THE SHIPPING CALCULATOR, BE MY GUEST, BUT IT IS ALMOST NEVER RIGHT. WILL BE PACKED VERY CAREFULLY BY UPS AND INSURED. THEY CHARGE ME TO PACKAGE IT AND YOU WILL BE CHARGED WHAT THEY CHARGE ME TO PACK, INSURE, AND SEND.
Guild flourished in the rest of the '50s and in particular throughout the '60s. Although they had started out as a line of mainly jazz guitars, Guild's popularity and solid reputation spread quickly, and over the years its instruments found their way into the hands of high-profile rock, pop, blues and jazz guitar heroes including Johnny Smith, Duane Eddy, Roy Orbison, John Lee Hooker, Merle Travis, Paul Simon, Keith Richards, Dave Davies, George Benson, Buddy Guy, Howlin' Wolf, Richie Havens, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Miller, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Doc Watson, Ry Cooder, George Strait and so many other acclaimed artists.
In 1966, the Guild Musical Instruments Corporation was bought by electronics giant Avnet Inc., and, having once again outgrown its factory, was moved to a new plant in Westerly, R.I., where operations remained for almost three decades.
Guild's signature excellence in acoustic flat-top guitar design has made its name synonymous with fine quality and craftsmanship.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: I HAVE 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK SINCE 1999. I HAVE DESCRIBED THE GUITAR ACCURATELY, TRUTHFULLY, AND FAITHFULLY. I DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS AND I DON'T GIVE REFUNDS. THE ONLY REASON SHE'S BEING SOLD IS MY WIFE AND I BOTH LOST OUR JOBS AND WE'RE MOVING NEXT WEEK. MY LOSS IS YOUR LUCKY BREAK. YOU DON'T SEE MANY OF THESE. WONDERFUL INSTRUMENT.
