Today we offer a 1973 USA Fender Stratocaster w/ OHSC in a classic tobacco sunburst. This guitar has seen a lot of action . . . let's face it, good Strats get played!!! This one has been played lovingly, arguably the best relic to be had . . . the real deal!!! PLEASE READ ON FOR DETAILS, AND CHECK OUT THE PHOTOGRAPHS!!!!--
-- The serial number on the original "F-type" neck plate is 398xxx. Verifiable 1973. The neck stamp is 22FEB73B. All pot codes read 1377304-- these are the original CTS pots from early 73, so this is an early to mid-73 Strat.
-- The body, per the neck cavity, is stamped Chambers with the classic micro-tilt adjuster, and showing the finish to be the original sunburst. This is a brown and red burst. The body and finish have all the normal wear . . . "relicing," if you will, to be expected from a well played 70's guitar. No abuse, no repairs. CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS, BLOW THEM UP!!!!!
-- The pickguard and electronics appear to be original. Original 3-way switch. Original pots. Original pick ups. The owner had installed aftermarket pups in this (he labeled one of the pups with silver ink-- SEE PHOTOS!!!!). Our luthier, a FENDER CERTIFIED LUTHIER, reinstalled the original pups, which also date to 1973, we had these in the case of the guitar. She also removed a toggle modification that had been installed to the pickguard, THE PICKGUARD HAS A DRILL HOLE IN IT. The removed toggle is in the case. THE BRIDGE ON THIS IS NOT ORIGINAL. The originals had issues. THE WHAMMY BAR IS NOT ORIGINAL. The tremolo operates without flaw, mounting hardware from the back appears to be original. WE DO NOT HAVE THE COVER PLATE FOR THE TREM CAVITY.
-- The neck is original, stamped TORRES. The machines appear to be original. THIS GUITAR HAS BEEN REFRETTED!!!! This was done by Joe Wilson's Guitar Shop in Mt. Pleasant, SC, a specialist for these things. Our luthier, a fret specialist, lightly dressed and polished the frets. They are tall, proud, tons of life left in 'em, and immaculate. The action on this is low players action. The neck feels like a 60s neck that gets a touch wider as you play up it. Intonated perfectly.
-- The case is the original hard shell case, with logo intact. It is in good, functional shape. Lotsa stickers on it to tell a few of the stories of where it has been.
