The first coin to have the "IN GOD WE TRUST" motto was actually a 2 cent coin in 1864. The Lincoln is often the one given this credit. Thanks for teaching an old dog a new trick! Read more about this at "In God We Trust". It is pretty definite that our forefathers valued God!
