On consignment one 1978 Martin D-35.Here's the story... A family from Canada moved to Arkansas where they had a family band. The father and one son played guitar. The other son played the drums. In the early 80's the guitar playing brother (owner of the Martins) was killed in a car accident. In recent years the father also passed away. The son who played the drums stuck the guitars away in a closet where they've been until last week. He now wants them sold and is more concerned that they go to a good home where they will be played and enjoyed. Please see my other auctions for the 1966 D-18. The father's guitars have been sold locally.

This 1978 Martin D-35 is a real bluegrass guitar. It's been in a closet for almost three decades and still rings out. The owner had made modifications to the guitar as depicted in the photos. It was given an inlay upgrade to look more like a D-45 with position markers, headstock and bridge inlaying. The saddle, bridge and nut are all brass which affects the tone and can easily be put back to factory parts. There are no issues with this guitar regarding cracks or repairs. Structurally it is a solid instrument in great condition. There was a clip in pickup years ago but only the input jack remains. The Martin case has bluegrass stickers but is solid. If you require more photos or have any questions I'll do my best to find out. I only ship using Canada Post (cheapest & safest). You can get shipping quotes from www.canadapost.ca . As always good luck to all the bidders.
Questions and answers about this item
Q: Is the neck straight? would you consider near mint condition considering upgrades? What is the reserve?
A: The neck is fine with just the right amount of relief. I don't use the word "mint" lightly. It's in good condition but it's not "near mint". Thanks for the question.
