1988 CHICAGO POST OFFICE GRAND OPENING CEREMONY EVENT COVER

Thank you bidders for following my postal auctions. Here is another neat item for your collection album. You are bidding on one (1) 1988 Chicago, Illinois Post Office Grand Opening Event Cover This unaddressed cover was canceled at the opening of a new post office in Chicago at zip code 60631 on August 4, 1988. It features a neat large (3" x 1 3/8" or 75 x 35 mm.) fancy cancel in a shape I cannot find the words to describe. In the cancel is the four-line inscription, "GRAND OPENING CEREMONY" "******STATION******" "Chicago, IL 60631" "AUG. 4, 1988." Six stars appear on each side of the "STATION" and a bold line separates the city/state/zip and date. Cancellation was only available for one day. Cover is a non-cachet, #6-size envelope that measures ~6 1/2" by 3 5/8" (inches) or 164 mm by 92 mm. I have a few of these so I have placed them in a Dutch auction. Buy one, or all of them. It would make a addition to any event cover collection and a great item for a Chicago or Illinois postal history collector.
