This 1988 Danbury Mint "Prom Dress" doll was inspired by Norman Rockwell's 1949 Saturday Evening Post cover. She is in her original box, but I do not have any of her original paperwork. She measures 17" tall and includes a free-standing mirror. Her legs, arms and head are porcelain. Her eyes are painted brown. Her hair is blond with a red bow in it. The original hair net is covering her hair. She is wearing a red plaid button-up short-sleeved shirt and denim jeans with a handkerchief in the back pocket. She has brown loafers with white socks. She is holding a white satin prom dress with white net and silver metallic overlay. The prom dress has never been removed from its factory-sealed plastic bag. She includes a doll stand. The box has water damage on the box and the following is written in red ink on the back: "Prom Dress Doll. Rec. 5-10-1988 from Danbury Mint, Pd. 130.00, {Norman Rockwell - Sat. Evening Post 1949}."
My grandmother was an avid doll collector. I inherited several of her dolls when she died in 1999. Unfortunately, I am running out of space to store them and don't have the same love for doll collecting that she did. I am hoping that I will find a bidder who will appreciate her dolls as much as she did. I am listing several of her dolls on eBay, so please check out my other auctions. These dolls are from a smoke-free home and have never been in a smoking environment.
If you would like to see additional pictures or have any questions, please ask.
I prefer payment by PayPal but will accept a money order or cashier's check. Buyer to pay shipping and insurance (optional but strongly encouraged) within 7 days of end of auction. I will not be responsible for lost or damaged items, so please buy insurance if you are concerned. I do not ship internationally. I will happily combine shipping for auctions ending within three days of each other -- just let me know that you are bidding on multiple items.
If you are the winning bidder and would prefer a different method of shipping, please let me know before you pay for the item so that I can calculate the actual shipping costs. I will add $1 to that to cover the costs of shipping materials.
