1992 Washburn AB-20 acoustic electric bass guitar as featured prominently on early episodes of "MTV Unplugged". Includes locking 5-latch hard-shell case (with key), owner's manual, pre-amp manual, hex key (Allen wrench) for adjusting the truss rod, and an extra set of used strings.
I believe that the guitar is easily in excellent condition according to the standards of the price guides. According to Fjestad's 11th edition, the guitar is worth $550 to $650 in excellent condition, and $350 to $425 in only average condition. I am opening the bidding at a low price, and including a very nice case with only superficial tearing of the cover.
Has both XLR and 1/4" outputs for Equis II active pre-amp. I do not know much about electronics, but I plugged the guitar in and it works.
Black finish has swirly micro-scratching, some fine scratches and a couple of very tiny punctures. Binding on top, back, and back seam is all multi-stripe. Barrel ends of strings rest against a solid brass bar inserted in the bridge. Bridge is tight to guitar top all the way around. Current set-up is with neck almost completely flat, more like an electric guitar set-up than an acoustic guitar set-up. Tuning machines are all working fine. I can see where strings have rubbed against frets, but I cannot feel any fret wear. Finger oil is visible on fret board, but no wear, other than impressions of wound strings against wood. Neck joint is tight; I do not detect any hairline cracking or even finish cracks from drying, although there is a tiny gap between pieces of binding at the heel. All in all, this seems to be a bass that has been played very little, has been stored well, and is going to perform better than most brand new ones.
It is very important to me that buyers feel like they have received what they thought they were bidding on, and that they feel like they have been treated well. If you have any questions or want anything clarified, please ask. I will try to answer questions as clearly and accurately as I can.
I consider it to be my responsibility to deliver this guitar to the buyer's confirmed address in the condition that it is described in this listing. If it does not arrive in the condition described, you will get your money back from me, or we will work out some partial refund acceptable to you, at your option. I am not going to give you some run-around about the carrier making decisions and waiting for insurance refund checks. It's my responsibility. Period. What I ask from you is that you document the condition of the packaging when the item arrived, save the packaging and, if possible, take photos of damage so that I can get a refund from the carrier.
I can usually ship an item the day after I receive payment, as long as I am shipping by USPS. The drawback is that USPS does not have tracking numbers. I am willing to ship via a different carrier if you wish. Please be aware that it might take me an extra day or two. Shipping on this bass will be on the high side, due to its length. As I am starting this listing, the shipping calculator seems to be showing prices that are too low and I don't know how to correct them. If the ebay shipping calculator is showing you a price that seems too high or too low, please contact me. I have seen some strange quirks, and I'd prefer to get them worked out before you bid rather than after. Especially if you live outside the U.S., please contact me about shipping rates before bidding.
Payment by PayPal unless you are picking the item up in person; in that case, cash is acceptable.
