BEWARE other "Performance Chips" that connect to the IAT...
How IAT sensor "Chips" damage your vehicle:
Many so-called "Performance Chips" on eBay are simple $0.01 resistors, often presented in a fancy box, sometimes with a switch or knob hanging off one side. They ALWAYS connect to the IAT and disable its functionality, and WILL damage your engine.
While you may notice your car drives differently without a functioning IAT, it is definately NOT running better.
The IAT is an important sensor in your vehicle's fuel injection system. The ECU depends on it to measure the tempurature of air coming into the engine. Cold air typically requires more fuel and a richer mixture due to the density, and because the fuel does not vaporize as well in cold air. The IAT "Chip" is simply a resistor who's value equals that of the IAT on a very cold day. This causes the ECU to deliver excess fuel during normal driving. Since there is not enough air for a proper 14.7:1 stoichometric (efficient) ratio, the excess fuel is passed through your exhaust. Not only does this drastically decrease gas mileage, it causes the catalytic converter to operate less efficiently, and releases excess CO2 which could cause you to fail emissions tests. If driven for extended periods it can cause permanent damage to the O2 senor (~$150) and catalytic converter (~$400). To put it simply, if you could gain more power and better efficency without a functioning IAT, why do car manufacturers bother to equip them? Please use your best judgement when buying performance accessories for your vehicle.
How the Volo Dynamic Soft-Flasher differs:
The Volo Chip is a custom programmed 4MHz Microcontroller. It is not a resistor or diode. The Volo Chip utilizes its serial input/output abilities to communicate directly with the ECU via the OBD II port. Inside your ECU is a three-dimensional table of values called a map. This table tells your fuel injectors exactly how much fuel to deliver given the current air temperature, density, engine speed, throttle position, and other variables. From the factory, this map is generic and designed to provide a sluggish, no-suprises style of driving to suit a wide range of people's tastes. The Volo Chip temporarilly replaces parts of this map with parts from its own highly tuned performance map, and will unleash your engine's full potential without causing any damage or voiding your warranty.
How Dynamic Soft-Flashing works:
The Volo Chip works by an exclusive process of Dynamic Soft-Flashing the ECU. Each
Volo Chip comes preprogrammed with a set of EPROM addresses that directly affect efficiency
and performance. When the ECU attempts to read the specific EPROM address, the Volo Chip
patches the factory value with one from its on-board performance tuned map.

The Volo Chip fine tunes your factory fuel map for power and performance.
Installation:
The Volo Chip connects directly to the OBD II port's data input/output lines. Find your OBD II port, connect four wires, you're done. View Installation Video & Instructions here.
Operation:
Once you've installed the chip, allow it to finish the initial automatic self calibration, and that's it. No dip-switches or fine tuning. No deciphering a poorly translated instruction booklet from China. The Volo Chip will automatically patch EPROM addresses as the ECU accesses them.
Will it void my warranty?
Unlike ECU ROM chip replacements or permanent ECU flashing, the Volo Chip makes no changes to the ROM itself and does not require opening the ECU. It will not void your factory warranty.
Why is it so much cheaper than other ECU mods?
The Volo Chip was purpose built and does not include some of the options that others may have, such as changing shift points, rev limits, and other parameters that cannot be soft-flashed. If all you're after is efficiency, speed, and performance, then the Volo Chip is for you!
Product warranty:
The Volo Chip comes with a 1 year warranty from date of purchase against manufacturer defects. If it becomes defective, simply return it with a note stating the nature of defect, and a return address to ship a replacement. The Volo Chip's on-board history will be checked to verify correct installation. Removing the chip from its socket, improper installation, or installing on a vehicle other than the one it was designed for will be flagged in the Volo Chip's on-board history and will void the warranty.
Return Policy:
In the rare event you don't notice a difference immediately, please reset the chip as indicated in the instructions and try again. Depending on the vehicle, it may take up to 120 miles of driving before some ECUs will accept the Volo Chip's patched values. This is a safety feature on some vehicles to prevent an ECU hiccup from impairing the entire system. If the chip has not been opened or installed, simply return it for a refund. If the chip has been opened and installed, the on-board history will be checked for correct installation and adequate driving time. If you've tried everything and still don't notice a difference, we'll be glad to provide a full refund of the purchase price.
