From the first or second quarter of the 19th century comes this beautiful framed petit point piece. The canvas is very tiny netting. Stitches in this piece vary as to type with the bird appearing to be some type tapestry stitch. Size is 13 3/4" X 11". Frame is likely the original as it is very nice but worn and the back has paper and at one time was covered in beautiful silk ribbon. I have had other pieces with the same finishing off of the back. They were German, French or British as this item likely is. There a couple of problems in the canvas, and though I am told the spots can be repaired by a reweaver or someone who understands that process, I have chosen to sell it as is since it easily can be recut or made into a really wonderful pillow. The two holes are easily seen in the pictures. One is near top on the right and the other is immediately left and up beside (but not in) the needlework itself. Please ask any questions that you want. Shipping is free if embroidered panel is removed from frame and shipped without frame.
