Late 19th Century Damascus/Cairo ware Copper Tray Inlaid with silver Mamlouk style, with a Band of Kufic inscription, and very fine etched floral design inbetween the inscriptions. The center is Inlaid with silver and copper to produce a floral design. Size 11 1/2 inches diameter, (29 cm). The Inlaid work was adopted from the MAMLOUK period about 9th century AD, and carried on through centuries, especially in syria and Egypt. This was made from One sheet of copper, hammered into a shallow tray with a rim, then hand carved, and inlaid with wires of silver and copper, this process can take between 20-30 days, for one tray. This was used for decorative purpose, They used to hang them on the wall. They usually have verses from the QUR'AN, or old expressions. Shipping and Handling is $25 Within USA.
