Meissen 19th Century
Matching Sweetmeat Dishes
These lovely little Meissen sweetmeat dishes were made around 1835...

They each measure 6 inches from side to side, 3 inches deep. She is about 5 inches tall, and he is about 5-1/2 inches tall.
The best way to show how beautiful they are is to show all four sides...

A view from the top, and then the bottom...

The girl by herself...

Her face...

A closeup of the dress...

A closeup of Meissen's signature "Blue Onion" pattern, all hand-painted...

And now the little boy by himself...

His face...

A look at his suit...

The marks...

There have been a few professional restorations on these pieces. The top flowers were restored to each bouquet, and some small flakes and missing gold were repaired. The faces, fingers and clothes are all original and untouched, which is most unusual with these figures.
