Please read entire description before purchasing. One pound imported Devardi glass rods. COE 104. Transparent Yellow Green. Rods come in various lengths and widths, from 6mm to 10mm in width, and 8-12 inches in length. 8mm is most common width. The rods you receive are not the exact ones in the picture, but identical. Mixes well with Moretti and other COE 104 glass. 14 day money back return policy. Happy bidding.

Devardi glass is a handmade, hand pulled glass that uses very ancient glass formulas. It is a glass that is very saturated with color, unlike some varieties on the market that tend to be thin on color. It has advantages over Moretti glass such as that it "burns and discolors" at a much higher temperature. The color of the rods are the colors you will receive in your bead. However, with different heat settings, most Devardi glass colors provide different effects. The opaques tend to mottle with high heat, resembling a marbled look, or remain the color of the rod with cooler flames. Different oxygen/propane mixes also can give different appearances.

Devardi is different than Moretti glass, and takes some getting used to if you are familiar with Moretti, since it requires different temperatures and gas mixtures. Once you become accustom to it, you will find it to be a great glass. Please check our feedback to see what others are saying about Devardi Glass. We will include a list of tips and tricks with each order. Some drawbacks are that some of the Opaque colors can shock a bit easier if not heated slowly. Those who are used to Moretti glass usually apply too much heat from the start, causing the rods to splinter. Just lower the flame at the start to solve this problem, or just preheat the rods in the kiln, especially the thicker ones. The semi-opaque and the transparent colors tend to not have this problem. Some of the transparent colors also tend to bubble if too much heat is used, just like any variety. Simply reduce the heat and apply the glass in thinner layers, unless you are looking for those bubbles. Also, since these rods are hand pulled, they are not perfectly straight or uniform. Not a problem, they just don't look as great as Moretti. And the rods will vary in width and length. (See above for sizes.)

SHIPPING FEES: The best way to buy glass is quantity. We can save you large shipping fees if you purchase multiple pounds of glass and other items. The best thing to do if you buy multiple pounds is to email us for an invoice. We do not make money on shipping. These are actual postal shipping fees plus what we pay for the packing material. Here is our shipping fees:

1 pound glass: $5. You will receive 8 - 10 inch rods.

2 - 10 pounds: $12 total. Not per pound but for the entire shipment, regardless of how many pounds up to 10. You will receive 8 - 12 inch rods.

11 - 20 pounds: $24. Not per pound but for the entire shipment, regardless of how many pounds 11 - 20. You will receive 8 - 12 inch rods.

Each 10 lbs of glass is $12 to ship.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING FEES:

1 pound glass (plus packing weight) is $13.60. 2 pounds is $20.20. 3 pounds is $27. 4 -6 lbs. is $42.  6-10 lbs. is $54. New package after 10 lbs.

Here is a bead we made using different rows of Devardi and Moretti glass to show their compatability. From the left, that's Devardi light opaque marine green, then, moving right, that's Moretti opaque blue, then Devardi trans orange, then Moretti clear, then Devardi opaque Butterscotch. The only color I have had difficulty matching so far is Morettin opaque violet. Not sure why.

Here are some great beads we made using Devardi glass. A few have a mixture of Devardi and Moretti. Notice the gold luster frit and the cobalt blue luster frit on some of the beads. Look for our eBay listings to purchase these great luster frits.

TESTIMONIALS:

Hello Natasha, I was so surprised to receive the order this morning. I was busy, so Jim, my husband got to play with the (Devardi) rods. He was very impressed and just posted on LampworkEtc. People on there are still posting, no one has tried these rods. He just posted and told them to order. He told them he had not annealed them yet, but the rods are clean with few bubbles. He liked working with the rods better than working with Moretti. He said your glass is a little stiffer than Moretti. He can build up a larger disc, before melting it down. He stated that good puckers are more easily achieved than with Moretti, because of the stiffness of the glass. He also said he had no problem with bubbling, boiling, or foaming. He said a couple of the semi-opals shattered when introduced into the flame, but that was only 1/8" to 1/4" down the rod. He did not even warm the rods, and it was a very cold morning here. He did not immediately garage them in a kiln. He only put them in vermiculate. None cracked while cooling. If they go through an annealing cycle, we are in business with this glass. Have a good evening. Later, Lois

Hello Natasha, I combined beads with Moretti and Devardi glass today.  They are just about ready to take out of the kiln.

I got anxious and pulled several, and no problems.  I also encased each with the other.  I will know in and hour or so about those.  I think this glass is playing "Nice."

One other thing you might want to tell your customers.  Many of them are making big hole beads to use on Pandora, Troll, and others.  I made three beads on 1/4" mandrels today and it is much easier to control around the mandrel (with Devardi) than with Moretti.  That little bit of extra stiffness makes all the difference in the world.

Later, Jim (& Lois)

Hello Natasha, I just removed the beads from the kiln.  No cracks whatsoever.  I just posted on LE and told them I warmed the rods, garaged the test beads and no cracks.  The glass played "NICE."  I told them to order, if they wanted to get in on some of the hundred other colors I just saw on a chart.
