1st ALL BLACK Film ? Cabin In The Sky 1943 Color Poster

Here is a complete, genuine historic newspaper with the following title, date and description: This is the Complete, GENUINE issue !
Poster advertising MGM's first All-Black Motion Picture.
Art done by Al Hirschfeld.
This is the complete issue of a trade newspaper titled MOTION PICTURE DAILY from New York dated March 17, 1943.
Within the masthead are printed: "First in Film and Radio News. Brief, Accurate and Impartial." as well as "Alert, Intelligent and Indispensable to the Motion Picture Industry."
It is obvious this little publication was "indispensible" for news for and about the movie industry.
It is significant that this issue contains a color poster promoting what was MGM's first all African-American cast. In fact it is likely this was the first all-Black feature film by any movie studio (can you movie buffs verify?).
Produced by Arthur Freed and directed by Vincent Minnelli in his Hollywood debut, "Cabin in the Sky" was a groundbreaking production for its time due to the decision to use an all-African-American cast. In the 1940s movie theaters in many cities, particularly in the southern United States, refused to show films with prominent black performers, so MGM took a considerable financial risk by approving the film.
Within this issue is a glossy-stock insert which on one side shows the color artwork done by famed artist Al Hirschfeld, while the other side is essentially a color "poster" promoting the film (see photos below).
This issue is complete in 6 pages, printed on glossy-stock paper of good quality. The mentioned insert is on thicker stock paper than the rest of the issue. There are tiny binding holes down the blank spine margin not close to any text. Very nice, clean condition and measuring 9 1/4 by 12 1/4 inches.
How has such an issue survived thru the years?
This issue was kept by a library in London, England, in a bound volume since 1943 along with other issues of the same year, used by patrons and safely stored. It is obviously this issue received very little use through the years. We purchased this issue when it & others were deemed out of scope for a British Library library. We now make it available--once again--to the general public.
