Exploring Our Solar System, Written and Signed by Sally K. Ride, America’s First Female Astronaut, 1st Edition MINT Hardcover!
When she served as Mission Specialist on STS-7, Sally Ride made history by becoming the first American Astronaut to fly in space. On STS-41G she again was a mission specialist becoming the first woman to fly twice in space. Her third planned flight was cut short by the Challenger disaster and she further served NASA and our country by sitting on the investigation board. After retiring from NASA she went on to publish several books, this being the latest. It is a splendid 110-page work filled with hundreds of color photographs as each chapter talks about the planets that make up our solar system. She has used the latest data from our planetary probes to explain each planets composition, characteristics and probable formation. Though the language is targeted for a younger audience (hence its dedication to “the next generation of dreamers and doers”) the book still is a fascinating read.
Item is an 8 ¾” x 11 ½” hardback book (109 pages with hundreds of photographs) with dustcover. Dr. Ride has signed the first edition, second printing book on the inside cover. The book itself is in MINT condition and has never been read.
