2 rare MATCHING LEFT AND RIGHT-spelter french lamps with the paris double seal marked. marked distinctly twice on one which is favorable-"collection francais" and "paris francais" on the left in the photo.these are large double statue spelter lamps,23 inches high to the top of their heads-these are beautiful quality spelter castings.spelter is an amalgamate of pewter, non corrosive and much stronger than white metal -identical to moreau lamps.these are equal artistically.the photos cannot show all the dozens of poses one will only see while living around them-these are exceptional sculptures with excellent profiles and many other angles in all sorts of lighting conditions-where one sees new artistic beauty as time goes on.these 1930's french imports have no signature but this does not detract from their value.signatures are good to have but not always indicative of quality.these have no signature other than the authenticity of the double paris seal, but people buy art first and these are exceptional.there were a number of french sculptors as good as the Moreau brothers.some are prefered over them but moreau art works were many and excellent.these are the same quality made at the same time in the 30's and they are planned left and right opposites-rare.the fine artistic and structural condition is noteworthy.no damage whatsoever.16 inches to the top of their heads from there feet.23 inches from the table to the top of their heads standing.all slightly different faces.music books with detailed notes are on their laps.anatomically they are accurate and the overall design is very stately with the women elegantly dressed.they are heavy castings which is good.these are nearly 80 years old with the surface that clearly shows this along with original bottom padding.wiring was replaced in the past and is exc..original paint is outstanding with a nice semi-brightness to it.brighter in flash or brighter in brightly lit rooms or under a lighted shade.kept out of the sun-there is no fading which can take place rapidly in direct sunlight each day year after year.these are 27 lbs a piece and will be very stable.the the harps are common oval 11 inches each making the total hieght 40 inches.30 inches to the top of the sockets.10x10 bases .8 inch diameter cylinder bases on top.these a more valuable due to their planned opposites when using 2 tall figures on each base.the standing women are on the outside face inwards.profiles can't be shown but they are superb and these photos are under certain conditions.they're accurate but these art pieces have so much more to reveal! don't let these pass you by!.appraised at 750.00- rare.bidding starts at 550.00 ,40.00 shipping discounted 40.00-shipping ups is expensive with lrg heavy boxes.gas went up but their prices stayed up.it runs about a hundred dollars -seller's cost-no handling -time charge.,ins incl.continental usa.2 double boxes like gloves for each lamp-400lb test 18x18x44.wood perimeters are used to ensure safe arrival .packaging done by seller alone.take advantage of the starting bid. today's modern manufacturing in the reproduction market of somewhat similiar art, (in white metal or resin, not spelter), have been selling for the same and often more.new names have been created but they're not antiques but part of the new mass marketing of the asian line of art.in contrast the lamps pictured above are authentic fine quality french sculptures-(original castings)-rare antiques from the 30's in excellent condition. |
