Pair of Antique Jacobean Carved Oak Side Chairs
From an old NJ Estate of antique collectors, this is a nice pair of old oak chairs. They are Jacobean design with carved oak details and stretchers that connect just above the feet in Jacobean style. Carved scrolled aprons, and turned legs on knopped feet.
The chairs have bird and floral tapestry which is purported to be original. It is beautiful old needlepoint that unfortunately has wear spots and holes and needs cleaning. It is attached with brass nailhead trim. There are places where the tapestry has pulled away from the back on the top of one chair, where it has pulled away from the side, and there are a couple of holes in the seats. There is decorative fringe that hangs down from the chair back. Even with the wear to the upholstery, these chairs still have a great look. Not sure if you could clean and patch and repair, or if they would need to be reupholstered - it would be great to replicate the original look. Original cushioning on the seats.
Wood is in good antique condition with wear as would be expected, you can see wear marks on the finish of the front stretches where people probably rested their feet.
Chairs measure 34" tall x 17" by 16".
Beautiful Jacobean Chairs - ready for some TLC. Low starting bid. I prefer to do pickup in northern NJ (zip 07446) if possible.
The items that I sell are primitives/antiques/vintage items that I find and would buy for myself. I try to describe each item as well as I can but I am not an expert. I sell on ebay for fun and enjoy the people I meet here. I do not leave negative feedback and hope that if you are not happy with an item that we can work out any problems. It's not life and death - that's what I do in my 9-5 job. This should be fun.
