Antique Hand-carved Scottish Bone Spoons ITEM: Two
spoons made from cattle bone ca 1860-80.
We found them in Scotland. These spoons served several purposes. They were
used by apothecaries (pharmacists) to measure and mix potions. They were also used for dispensing
medicines, for eating eggs ( eggs tarnish silver spoons), and for baby feeding.
They are 5 1/4" and 4 3/4” long and is in excellent condition with only a bit of wear commensurate with their age and use. We have several other Scottish bone items at auction this week as well as a handful of stunning antique Scottish horn cups and horn spoons. All are in very nice condition. Why not have a look!
