Two Mid Century Modern built Chairs by Scandinavian Maker Johannes Hansen

  Up for sale is a pair of the most masculine ICONIC designed chairs of the 1950's. This pair is an early original of "THE CHAIR" designed by Hans Jørgen Wegner in 1949. These two chairs are solid sculptured timber fully signed on the underneath(see pics). Perfect for the office, home or as an accent piece. Two is alway's better than one. Both chairs are marked Johannes Hansen Copenhagen Denmark (See pics). 

All orginial.

  They are in as found condition. Frames are solid and sturdy. The cane in both chairs has some issues with breakage. One chair is in better cane condition than the other. The cane is brittle from age. (See the pics for cane condition and please feel free to ask questions). I am not an expert in this type of cane seating.

FYI - In the 1960's, CBS ordered a dozen and used them for the televised Kennedy Nixon Presidential Debates and has since been known simply as “The Chair”.  After the debate CBS donated them to the Smithsonian Institute.
