Beautiful...

2 (TWO) vintage Maigon Daga Studio Dakota pottery Hand Coiled Vases. Each vase measures 2 1/2 inches tall and 2 inches wide. It is glazed in Daga's characteristic earth tone glazes and is signed "Daga" and # 6 on the bottom. One is green and one is brown.

Maigon Daga was born in Riga, Latvia in 1923, but after the occupation by Soviet troops in 1945, he fled to Latvia. He then immigrated to Australia in 1948 and studied sculpture at the Adelaide School of Fine Art. He opened his first commercial ceramic studio in Adelaide in 1957. In 1965 he moved his family to the city of Chicago in the U.S.A., eventually settling the following year in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he lived until his death in 2001. He opened his own studio, Daga Design, here in 1969.
