The Morel Classic Advanced series woofer utilizes a Damped Polymer Composite cone, rubber surround, powerful double magnet system, and large 75mm (3") Hexatech aluminum voice coil. Benefits of the large coil diameter include high power handling, lack of sound level compression, and complete control of the diaphragm. In addition, it allows the use of a very shallow cone profile, providing excellent dispersion, resistance to cone break-up, and lack of coloration. Frequency and phase response are very flat, while the roll-off is smooth, allowing the use of simple first-order crossover designs. The aerodynamic Uniflow cast chassis is extremely "open", providing a reflection-free backwave and improved voice coil cooling. Employed in several highly regarded commercial speakers including the Talon Audio Firehawk.
