Here is a recent find for your consideration. This listing is for a pair of small tin tobacco signs. These measure 6 1/2'' x 3 1/2'', and are titled Chew Hatchet Plug Tobacco. They are in rough condition, with rust and considerable paint loss. These were found buried under 7 feet of sand, along with three larger ones. So you can get an idea of their condition, being that they were buried for so many years. I have tried researching these, but was unable to come up with anything. However, I did find some information on the manufacturer. The manufacturer of these tin signs was Norton Bros. Chicago, and they were in business back in the late 1800's. Under the word Tobacco is Norton Bros. Pres. Chicago? At least, that is what I believe it reads. I have taken many photo's to show these signs, and their condition. Please enlarge them and have a look. If I can get any further information on these, I will be happy to add it to this listing. If anyone is interested in the three larger ones, I could list them also. But those are in worse shape. Always happy to answer any questions. Thanks for looking. |
