Acquired from a recent estate sale comes a pair of Women’s gloves by Crescendoe.  The white ones are 11” long and are NWT, and the navy blue gloves measure 9 ¼” and are used.  They belonged to a German lady who resided in a 200 year-old home with her husband in the oldest resort town in the U.S. – Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.

These gloves are totally fascinating.  The white gloves come in the original packaging.  The bag was slightly marred by a sale tag.  The package reads Crescendoe, and the gloves have a foldover tag in the shape of a note with the size 7 ½ on it.  A second tag reads Crescendoe along with the size, some numbers, the color “White”, and price of $3.00 on it.  In addition, a light stamp on the inside of both pairs of gloves reads,  “ ‘Leather Tailored’ made in Italy, all cotton.” 

The white gloves package also includes a small insert with interesting information about washing, and how they’re leather tailored by leather craftsmen in Italy.  At that time they claimed that these gloves were the world’s finest (Wonder) long staple cotton spun by an exclusive process especially for CRESCENDOE. 

Knitted on new improved machines by a special method and finished by a new process that was CRESCENDOE’s alone.  It will always hold its shape, and will not shrink if instructions are followed properly.  It will look more doeskin and leatherlike after each washing. 

The navy blue gloves have been worn but are still in great shape.  A great collector’s item.    

The estate included many beautiful and unusual items, some of which can be seen among my other items on existing and upcoming auctions.   Although the actual age is unknown, many items from this estate are estimated to date back to the 1940’s or earlier.
