Sri Lankan Elephant Project

Made from 100% Patchyderm paper (elephant dung recycled paper).

Highlighting the plight of the magestic Sri Lankan Elephant, being driven to extinction by the elephant-man conflict... A percentage of the proceeds of sales of these items goes to the MEF (Millenium Elephant Foundation), elephant orphanage, affiliated to the world society for the proctection of animals, who maintain a home for the elderly and disabled elephants.

Method:

The elephants diet is highly fibrous and so is the dung. People collect the dung which is sun dried, then boiled to kill off the germs. The dung is then beaten to a pulp, submerged into a water vat and sheets of paper are naturally dried and pressed between heavy rollers.

Measurements of 1 book - 15.3cm x 21cm x 2cm (6inch x 8.4inch x .12inch)

Approx 35 pages of unlined, thick recycled elephant dung paper

Each book comes with an elephant dung paper card giving a brief description of the manufacturing process.
